Students enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) classes start taking College Board exams on Monday.

AP tests are given to assess students’ mastery of the class and can be submitted for college credit.

But prior to the start of testing, many students spend time reviewing key concepts. For AP U.S. History teacher Andre Brown, review time included interactive activities to help students prepare.

“We’re doing a lot of review,” Brown said. “We just wrapped up content and AP U.S. History has so much content. We’re learning from 1492 all the way to 2026. So now that we’ve finished content, we want to make sure we leave about a week to review everything. So trying to make it fun, we got some review games and trying not to make it as boring as the actual content was. But, the main thing is just giving them time to do it. It’s so comprehensive.”

For junior Oliver Hong, testing season is a challenge to manage.

“I’m taking AP Computer Science Principles, AP Environmental Science, AP Pre-Calc, AP Lang, and AP Physics,” Hong said. “And I’m pretty nervous about the AP test because there’s just so many and they’re all in the same week, or most of them are in the same week. So I’m just gonna plan to study for them equally and not get too stressed out.”
