Wingspan: What inspired you to start swimming?

Nguyen: “I started swimming because I was out in lessons with my friends, so it was enjoyable and I happened to not be as bad in it as I was in other sports.”

Wingspan: What keeps you motivated to stay in the sport?

Nguyen: “I keep swimming because I like the people on the team and it’s a good way for me to stay active.”

Wingspan: What is the most difficult thing about swimming?

Nguyen: “It’s hard to balance school with practices because practices are tiring and time consuming.”

Wingspan: What is the biggest benefit of being in the sport?

Nguyen: “A big benefit is not being outside and exercising the whole time because it’s indoors and it being a low impact sport.”

Wingspan: What’s it’s like being on the swim team?

Nguyen: “Being on the team is a blast because there’s always something happening- you become really close to your teammates.”

Wingspan: What pumps you up/motivates you before a meet?

Nguyen: “I like to listen to a playlist I have on my phone.”

Wingspan: What is your pre-game ritual?

Nguyen: “I drink two sips of Gatorade and jump around right before going up to the blocks.”
