Wingspan: What are your favorite aspects of being part of our school’s theater department?
Konuru: “I love the sense of community that you can pretty quickly find, I love the number of extremely talented and skilled actors and technicians we have, and I love our directors, who are incredibly creative and efficient.”
Wingspan: Can you share one of your favorite memories related to theater?
Konuru: “I have a lot varying from memories onstage and off, but I think my utmost favorite and peak moment was when my wig fell off in Imaginary Invalid last year, our French farce/comedy class play. I was so proud of my ability to play it off cool like it was completely natural, and everyone scream-laughed with delight. Unfortunately, I did wear it backwards for the rest of the show, but I don’t think anyone noticed teehee.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite character/role you played?
Konuru: “Depends on the genre. For drama, Surinder Rai in Run Rebel (Last Year UIL) and for comedy, Beline in The Imaginary Invalid (Last Year One Act Fest).”
Wingspan: Describe the experience of doing theater with 3 words.
Konuru: “Chaotic but delightful.”
Wingspan: In the future, will you continue theater? Do you plan to make it your job, or perhaps something on the side?
Konuru: “In a perfect world, it would be the only thing. I do plan to do theater professionally, but in college I plan to also get a business degree and master, and will probably have to do multiple jobs and work extra hard to push off in the field of theater. But generally it is my dream career, and I won’t be putting it aside anytime soon.”
Wingspan: What are some goals you have for yourself with regards to performing/being part of theater in general?
Konuru: “My utmost dream and hope is a major role on Broadway. In terms of high school my goals are to win UIL and win All Star or Outstanding Actor at UIL. But if I don’t make it to Broadway, I won’t be too bothered, and I’d keep doing theater.”
