After a track and field season that started with weather impacting the season, senior Cayley Beaumont advanced to state after placing 2nd in the UIL 5A Region II meet at the University of Texas at Arlington on Saturday.
“I’m very proud of myself for being a state qualifier and placing so well in regionals,” Beaumont said. “I’m definitely a little nervous for state because the competition is tough but I think I have a good chance at placing high.”
Winning both the 11-5A District and Area team championships, Beaumont isn’t the only one that thinks she may do well at the state meet in Austin at Mike A. Myers Stadium on May 2.
“I’m very proud of all the girls for doing so well during the season and making it so far in the championship season,” Vay said. “I’m excited to see Cayley perform in the long jump and I think she will do very well and place high.”
