Packed with musical songs, new choreography, and solos, Broadway takes the auditorium stage with choir’s spring show Tuesday at 7 p.m.
“We like to always take all the things we’ve learned about reading music and singing, harmonies, all those things from the rest of the year, and incorporate it into more modern music,” choir director Toni Ugolini said. “Then also let them just put the full performance on with the movement as well.”’
For seniors like Srikrishna Rajagopal, this is a fun way to end their choir journey.
“This is gonna be my last spring show and I’m really excited because seniors had a lot of say in what show we were gonna do and what our theme was,” Rajagopal said. “It’s less of like a church choir and more of like a fun barbershop type thing.”
Many choir students are anticipating this show and look forward to showing off their talent.
“I’m teaching choreography for our class and I’m doing a solo act,” sophomore Kyron France said. “I feel pretty good about all that because we’re learning it as a choir and we’re all getting better.”
Rather than a static performance with the choir singing from risers on the stage, the spring show is more of a performance.
“This time we’re actually dancing and moving around rather than just standing in plays and singing choir songs,” sophomore Sanika Kaulgud said. “We’re also doing a lot of pop songs, which is a really different experience than the choir songs we usually sing.”
