In a few weeks, a group of Redhawks are heading overseas for this summer’s EF Tours to Europe which is neither sponsored by, nor affiliated with Frisco ISD. In finishing preparations for the trip, student travelers will be attending pre-departure meetings Tuesday through Thursday at the Haggard Branch of the Plano Public Library.
“The pre-departure meetings for this European adventure will cover important safety guidelines, flight and hotel information, and motorcoach assignments,” Travel Director David Volkmar said. “Color scans will be made of each traveler’s passport for additional security, and travelers will be given a daily agenda covering each detail of their 17-day, six-country itinerary.”
Students will receive final details on their flight seats, passport and traveling requirements, as well as items that are important to pack.=
“I’m hoping to learn more about all the processes regarding transportation throughout the trip as well as the safety measures we will have to follow,” junior Shreya Narayan said. “These are different countries with unfamiliar rules and I want to be safe with my friends while having fun.”
On the other hand, for junior Aditi Shah, the pre-departure meeting is crucial for ensuring that she meets all the requirements for entering other countries.
“There are a couple steps when you’re travelling to another country,” Shah said. “For example, in the UK there’s a separate process that you have to get in order so the meeting would definitely help get those types of things in order.”
