As a way to boost school spirit, the campus leadership team has decided to implement the Hawk Points system. Designed to encourage positive student behavior, the program allows teachers to award points and track which class or grade earns the most.
Assistant Principal Chris Ham noted that Hawk Points will also serve as an incentive for participating in events like dress-up week.
“Whenever we do dress-up week, in the past we haven’t had many students participate in that,” Ham said. “We will start giving points to students who do participate in dress-up week.”
Students will be able to earn various prizes based on their daily performance, with more details to come as the school year progresses.
“[The prizes are] things that you guys really want,” Ham said. “We’re not gonna just go buy random things — we’re gonna ask you guys what prizes you want, whether that’s a gift card or a ticket to prom.”
