After being publicly together for about two years, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged.
Whether it is due to “stealing the spotlight” during football games or for being “undeserving” of a pop icon, both Swift and Kelce have faced backlash from each other’s fan bases throughout their relationship.

The post features Swift and Kelce surrounded by beautiful white flowers and with Kelce down on one knee. Their outfits, clearly coordinated, fit in well with the scenery. The overall aesthetic of this post matches the couple well, truly making fans feel like their English teacher and gym teacher are getting married, as Swift and Kelce mentioned in the caption.
Some have expressed criticism towards the couple, believing their relationship is for the cameras. Football fans show frustration, concerned that the engagement will overshadow the NFL. Supporters of Swift have voiced distaste for Kelce, more so following the engagement, claiming he “does not compare” to some of Swift’s past partners.
However, the more common reception of Kelce and Swift’s engagement has been positive, full of support for the two. For some, albeit parasocial, the couple are a representation of happiness and success, and fans are anticipating what comes next for them.
