Under the guidance of new head coach Chip Gregory, the football team (0-1) came very close to starting the season with a win. Although they ultimately lost 28-21 to Lebanon Trail (1-0) in that game, the Redhawks now have another chance to grab an early-season win in a western-themed non-district rivalry against Centennial (1-0) at Kuykendall Stadium Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
“We are preparing for the game by studying their tendencies, refining our game plan, and ensuring we are physically and mentally prepared for the challenge ahead,” Gregory said. “The keys to a win will be solid execution, minimizing mistakes, and capitalizing on opportunities. It’s crucial to play as a cohesive unit and maintain intensity throughout the game.”
According to senior wide receiver and defensive back Declan Hurley, the team’s relative experience could also contribute to how well they play.
“We have so many new additions to the team, including five new seniors which is awesome,” Hurley said. “Things are going to be way different than last year, I think the energy that we’re beginning in will shock the district for sure. Coach Gregory, he’s the guy to have as head coach, and now our practices are super good.”
