It’s almost fall, but The Summer I turned Pretty is the talk of many students on campus with the launch of season 3 on Netflix.
Based on the book series by Jenny Han, the show is about Belly, a girl who experiences a dramatic change in her life during a summer at Cousins Beach. The Fisher and Conklin families have been friends ever since the kids (Conrad, Jeremiah, Steven, and Belly) were little. Every summer the families get together at their beach house.
Belly has been obsessed with Conrad Fisher ever since she was little. However, this summer Belly has grown up and she seems to be trapped in a love triangle between Conrad and Jeremiah.
Conrad and Jeremiah’s mom, Susannah, struggles with cancer which causes the boys to have depression. Laurel, Belly and Stevens’ mom, is also Susannah’s best friend and the reason why they spend summers together. They were friends since they were young and Susannah’s diagnosis was devastating for her.
Now in season three, the characters are in college and navigating their way through life. This leads to another love triangle between Taylor, Belly’s best friend, Steven, Belly’s brother, and Denise, a coworker of Steven. Fans are just as invested with them as they are with the main character’s love triangle.
Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah’s love triangle seriously heats up in the third season. There are fights, confessions, and interesting choices that draw watchers in. However, many fans that were team Jeremiah are disappointed with the show because of his character arc and how the plot changed. while Team Conrad fans are confident and hopeful that Belly and Conrad will be the endgame.
But how it all ends, well, no more spoilers here.
