The tennis team (0-6) faced Independence (5-1) on Tuesday at The Nest, losing 10-9.
“Doubles came out strong, it was the first time this season we were up after doubles,” head coach William Davis said. “For singles, we had some people who came up a little short and lost a little on their [Universal Tennis Rating], but overall it was a really close, competitive match.”
Despite not winning her individual match, sophomore Valerie Chao still met most of her goals.
“A goal I set for myself was to be louder for my teammates to bring the energy up, which I definitely met,” Chao said. “I also wanted to win my match, which I didn’t completely meet because I lost my singles match, but I won my doubles match. My third goal was to try my hardest, and I did, I just happened to not win.”
