Choir takes the stage for the first time this year for their fall concert on Thursday, at 7 p.m., in the auditorium.
“Our choirs have been working hard in preparation for our first performance,” choir director Janson Guillen said. “We are in great shape heading into this final stretch of rehearsals.”
Guillen considered all the needs of the separate choirs when picking the pieces.
“Our three choirs will be performing two pieces each,” Guillen said. “Some from the All-State audition repertoire, and other pieces that I felt would be a great fit to teach beginning-of-year concepts that we can translate into future performances.”
Picking the All-State audition pieces and running the songs multiple times during class helped junior Sanika Kaulgud.
“I feel pretty prepared as I already learned the songs for the All State audition, so I know my part very well,” Kaulgud said. “We also sing the songs a lot in class so that locks the music in my brain”.
3rd year Cambiata member (tenor-bass division), junior Oliver Hong, is excited for the community to see the choir’s abilities.
“We get to showcase to parents and the community the types of things we do and practice for,” Hong said. “I feel pretty prepared for this concert as it’s one of our easier ones throughout the year. We’ve been practicing singing our songs a lot during class so that we can perfect it during the performance.”
