In many classes, students must follow certain rules, formulas or processes. However, in AP Art 2, some of that is going out the window, as students are being encouraged to create something unusual.
Students are pushing the boundaries of design with their latest project, creating a work of art that focuses on an unusual interior, challenging them to consider what may not typically be viewed as beautiful.
“So AP Art students are doing a project called unusual interior and they’re supposed to pick kind of a unique perspective to draw,” AP Art teacher Emily Delarios said. “It could be the inside of something that’s not normally seen or it could be an unusual perspective on something that we see all the time. It’s supposed to give kids the opportunity to look at things differently and find beauty in things that we don’t normally see as beautiful.”
Being encouraged to look beyond the obvious, some students are enjoying the freedom to find their inspiration.
“What I find really fun about this project is that you can collaborate with your peers and just exchange ideas,” sophomore Pradyun Gourabathina said. “And I really like the drawing process too, cause it takes a lot of creativity and you can learn from it too.”
