They may have had to sacrifice some time over fall break to do so, but the volleyball team (28-4, 10-1) won both of their matches during that time.
The Redhawks’ first test of the break came Friday with a home rematch of the “Rivalry on Rolater” against Centennial (25-8, 9-2), another team with a high district winning percentage. It was a match the team had been carefully preparing for since a 3-2 road victory the last time they faced the Titans, and that preparation paid off, with the Redhawks winning 3-1 and outscoring their opponents 97-72.
Going on the road Tuesday to face Heritage (17-14, 5-6), the team avoided a potential trap game and came away with another win, shutting out the Coyotes and outscoring them 75-50.
“We had two really successful games over break,” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “We have done a good job of speeding up our offense and working together as a team.
Senior outside hitter and right-side-hitter, MacLane Mercer, said she was not focused solely on winning, even if it still remained a key aspect.
“Playing with some of my best friends and getting to have fun is awesome,” Mercer said. “ We’re also making sure we remain focused on winning and the competitive aspect of it at the same time.”
