The swim and dive team went up against Heritage and Mesquite Thursday at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium, with both the boys and girls taking first place.
“A few things that they did well was they raced hard in all of their events despite the meet being small and not a lot of time for rest in between races,” head coach Zachariah Gnoza said. “We had a few athletes earn a qualifying time in their events for a meet that they [had] to meet. We did not have an opportunity to warm-up between races because the facility did not have an area for this, so we need to make sure we take full advantage when we have the time and space to ensure we are set up the best we can for our next races.”
For sophomore Sonali Rao, the key to cutting down time and winning overall was a clear, focused mindset.
“A goal I set for myself [at] this meet was to have good technique throughout my strokes,” Rao said. “During the meet, what helped me perform well was having a focused mindset and concentrating on just my technique.”Athletes did not immediately respond to Liberty Wingspan’s request for comment.
