A feast of games over Thanksgiving break saw the girls’ basketball team (4-8) going 1-5. Hoping to turn things around, the team travels to Royse City Tuesday at 6:30 p.m..
“A lot of the challenges we faced [over thanksgiving break] were the same [as before],” head coach Mykaela Alfred said. “The technical things, not blocking out, just turning the ball over, and shot selection, not making a lot of shots.”
For junior Kaitlyn Jenson, keeping a good mentality throughout the games was difficult.
“The biggest challenge for me was staying mentally in the game because once you make a mistake, it can be really hard to stay in it and mentally put yourself back in the game,” Jenson said.
The main goal for Tuesday’s game is to work on and correct what the team missed at the games over Thanksgiving break.
“They have a competitive spirit,” Alfred said. “The biggest thing we’re focusing on [for the game against Royce City] is the technical things, doing the dirty work, getting the loose balls, taking care of the ball, all of those things. Communication wise, they’ve been pretty good. It’s just that when we get some pressure, we get a little erratic.”
