Dance 1 and Dance 2 students are taking charge in the dance studio, sharing presentations and teaching a style. It’s all part of a class effort to explore new movement, new techniques, and a deeper understanding of dance.
“The goal of the presentations is for dancers to branch out and learn different things and different cultures of dance,” Dance teacher Nicole Nothe said. “it’s a great opportunity for dancers to learn something new that they haven’t experienced themselves.”
Following the presentation, students explored a variety of movement styles, each rooted in unique cultural traditions. The project encouraged dancers to step out of their comfort zones and discover new ways of expressing themselves.
“Teaching my classmates a dance is really fun,” freshman Neha Bannur said. “It’s also a chance for me and them to grow because I grow my teaching ability and my ability to get more clarity on the steps.”
