Legos were likely found under the tree of hundreds of Frisco ISD students, but the classic toy also found a place in the classroom
Students in the digital animation class spent time before winter break working on a LEGO project and designing their favorite or imaginary model, then bringing it to life.
For teacher Demas lamas, the project required certain things for students to be successful.
“I think it helps them visualize different things and also see things in a dimensional way,” Lamas said. “It’s also cool because they can 3d print the lego block when they are done and so it’s fun to see something that you have created or modeled in you know in the computer you have created come to alive.”
Freshman Armaan Shaikh felt like the project was easy; however, adding multiple textures and viewpoints made things more challenging.
“We learned different methods on how to model the project,” Shaikh said. “So using functions like shell etc… well, at first it may seem hard, but you get used to the tools and it becomes easier as you progress.”
The project is something freshman Akshaya Garmella hopes will prepare her for the future animation artist.
“Like animate characters to cartoon characters to like color them,” Garmella said. “A dd texture to create them as a 3d model and then just has the Disney did and then how they become so famous after doing all these animations and things.”
