Specializing in delectable cakes and desserts, Petit Four Dessert Cafe in Carrollton, is a cozy and charming cafe to visit.
The shop is small, but the spacing was well used and nicely decorated with the cakes, tarts, cakes, and even cheesecakes right up front.
Choosing the option for a box of six cakes, Black Sesame Royce Tart, Strawberry Chocolate Cheesecake, Golden Kiwi Tart, Lemon Cheesecake Tart, Matcha Tiramisu Tart, and Tiramisu were the choice of the day. The Royce Tart was the most expensive ($11.89), followed by the Signature Tarts at ($9.69), and finally the Signature Cheesecakes at ($9.39) each.
The Black Sesame Royce Tart has a smooth, dense, and velvety texture, and the rich, delicate and nutty black sesame flavor was one of the highlights, but was overpowered by the intense sweetness and the bland crust.
The Strawberry Chocolate Cheesecake is soft, with the pink and white layers taste refreshing and well-balanced. The name is misleading since there was only white chocolate as a topping, while chocolate wasn’t found elsewhere in the cake.
The Golden Kiwi Tart is a tasty cake. The kiwi flavor balanced out the general cake flavor, a mix of sweet and sour. The crust was also fresh, though this flavor gets boring after eating it for a long time.
The Lemon Cheesecake was delicious, with its soft texture and the melt-in-your-mouth sensation. The lemon sauce on the whipped cream pairs so well with the cake, tasting refreshing and balancing out all the flavors.
The Matcha Tiramisu Tart features a very rich matcha flavor, and it contrasted with the whipped cream. The cake tasted like tiramisu, but it quickly faded away because the matcha overpowered it. The cake was also a bit dry, only moist in the center because of the pipette shot atop the cake. There is also way too much whipped cream.
The tiramisu cake was very dry and also had too much whipped cream, not standing out other than the tiramisu flavor.
These desserts look amazing, and although some didn’t taste as great as they looked, the others exceeded expectations. If you’re willing to pay the price, the cheesecakes offered at Petit Four Dessert Cafe are definitely worth trying.
