It’s that time of year again – the start of softball season. Hoping to make the playoffs for the third time in four years, the team kicks things off on the road against Braswell (2-0) Tuesday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
“We’re excited to get our girls out on the [field] and watch them play,” assistant coach Gabrielle Buruato said. “We don’t have much of a scouting report, but we do know that Braswell plays on a turf and not grass field, so that will impact the mechanics of the game. Also, we’re a relatively small and young roster, so we’re relying on our older and more experienced girls to step up and lead the wa for the younger girls.”
As one of those more experienced athletes, senior utility player Samantha Byrnes is confident in the team’s preparation.
“We’ve been working very hard in practices in the morning and in the afternoon and we’ve gone over all of our skills,” Byrnes said. “We’re ready for this season. I think we’ll do pretty good.”
