With the first competition of the season on Saturday, Red Rhythm is showcasing all of their dances at The Nest on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for friends and family.
“Contest show-offs are important because they allow parents, friends, family, and the community to see all of our dances in one sitting,” assistant director Sydney Mooty said. “For anyone interested in trying out for Red Rhythm, show-offs provide a valuable glimpse into what the team works on during contest season. Our dancers put in countless hours of hard work, and having that support and recognition from the community means so much to them.”
For this year’s contest season, Red Rhythm is doing something a little different according to senior and captain Mason Classe.
“It is traditional for Red Rhythm to perform both a team military and pom routine,” Classe said. “However, this year we are also performing a team novelty, which gives the team an opportunity to learn and experience styles they may not have been previously familiar with. Additionally, our officers will be showcasing their lyrical, jazz, and contemporary routines, each different stylistically than in the previous year.”
Performing in her first contest show-offs, there’s one routine that sophomore Kailey Mincak is especially looking forward to.
“I’m most excited to do pom,” Mincak said. “I like all the technique that’s in it and the good energy the team has when we dance together. It’s just really fun and I think a lot of people in the audience will like it too.”
