The first game of District 11-5A play did not go the way that the softball team (0-1) had hoped, with the Redhawks losing 9-1 to Frisco (1-0) on the road Tuesday while recording identical batting averages and on-base percentages of .267.
“The stats don’t show the improvement we had and all of the grit we played with,” head coach Randi Hamilton said. “We did a better job playing together and having more productive at bats that we could learn from.”
Sophomore utility player Greer Schurr is proud of the team’s mental resilience despite the loss.
“We had a strong mentality in going out being prepared,” Schurr said. “Also having a great mind set, and going out there and executing even when we were down. If we continue doing those things, good things are going to happen.”
