Inclement weather delayed the softball team’s (2-1 in District 11-5A play) game at Centennial (1-2) from Saturday at noon to 7:00 p.m. Monday, but the Redhawks still notched a 9-1 win over their district rivals.
Head coach Randi Hamilton is proud of the relentless fight that she saw from her team throughout the game.
“We played really well,” Hamilton said. “Every person on our roster contributed and we did a good job of having productive at bats. Centennial is a good hitting team, and I thought we did a good job of attacking their hitters.”
The Redhawks recorded a season-high on-base percentage of .587 and a batting average of .296, holding the Titans scoreless until the final inning.
“The energy was great, and it really felt like we were all on the same page,” left fielder, junior Anna Reeves said. “It was awesome to see everything come together.”
Looking for another district win, the team returns to The Nest Tuesday at 4:30 p.m for Rising Redhawk Night, hosting Heritage (0-3) in another weather-delayed game that was originally scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
“Heritage will also bring some good hitters that will put the ball in play and make our defense work,” Hamilton said. “We know we will have to be prepared and ready for them.”
