As the regular soccer season winds down, the two teams at The Nest find themselves in nearly opposite situations.The boys (9-2-2, #22 in state) have clinched a spot in the playoffs and are currently sitting in second place in District 11-5A, while the girls (2-8-3) are seventh in their district and will not be advancing to the playoffs.
There is still one more game for both teams before the end of the regular season, however. The girls will hit the road Friday at 5:30 p.m. to challenge Emerson (3-8-2), while the boys will try to defend The Nest against the Mavericks (9-4) at 7:00 p.m.
“They’re a good, tough opponent,” boys assistant coach Kyle Parks. “It’s definitely going to be a good way for us to prepare for playoffs. Win or lose, we know we’re already know that we’re in, so it’s kind of a load off our minds.”
Playing in her final soccer game as a Redhawk and not planning to continue with the sport competitively in college, senior outside back Caitlyn Ruback looks to go out with a bang.
“It is my final soccer game in high school, which is sad,” Ruback said. “But it should be a good game, and I think we have a good shot at getting a win to end our season.”
