Taking time out of spring break didn’t slow down the softball team (5-1 in District 11-5A play), as the Redhawks won both of their games during that time.
The team first won 1-0 on the road versus Independence (1-5) March 13, then would go on to run-rule Memorial (3-3) at The Nest 11-1 on March 16.
“We did a great job in both games and it was good to get a couple more wins under our belts going into spring break,” head coach Randi Hamilton said. “The game against Independence was a fight from the first to the last pitch. Our girls did a good job staying engaged and fighting through every pitch.”
The team’s practice routine has helped them be successful according to freshman Alaina Evans.
“In practice, we typically stretch, throw, do daily infield and outfield drills, and then either work on situational plays, base running, or hitting drills,” Evans said. “It’s helped us be ready for all of the teams we’ve faced, especially the tough ones in districts.”
