A tough test could be in store for the softball team (5-1) as they travel to face Emerson (6-0) Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
Undefeated in District 11-5A play and winning more than a third of this season’s games by at least ten runs, the Mavericks are possibly the most challenging team the Redhawks have encountered at this point. However, head coach Randi Hamilton said her team won’t back down.
“Emerson is going to be a really good team who is going to put the ball in the play a lot,” Hamilton said. “We will have to be engaged on defense every single pitch and go into our at bats with confidence.”
Senior utility player Sam Byrnes said the team will need to be firing on all cylinders against their opponent.
“We’ll have to keep bats up and string hits together really well,” Byrnes said. “Good energy all around – the field, the dugout, and especially in situational hitting – will be key to this game.”
