For teacher appreciation week, baseball organized a barbecue cookout for staff outside the cafeteria during all lunches on Wednesday with players and coaches preparing food and snacks to show their gratitude for staff members.
“We would like to just say thank you to our teachers and staff for all they do for not only for our baseball players but our students here on campus,” head baseball coach Scott McGarrh said. “Because you know teachers don’t get recognized and thanked enough for what they do so a little so this is just a little bit of a payback to tell teachers thank you.”
Head wrestling coach Justin Koons said the gesture made him feel valued and highlighted the strong sense of community on campus.
“I wanna see teachers tailgating our baseball games and bringing them hot dogs and supporting these guys after they support us,” Koons said. “I think that’s amazing. A lot of programs would benefit from just getting out there and serving the community the teachers and the staff and getting more people out to games and create a culture; I love it.”
