Dance 1 and 2 have officially finished their course, and students are now wrapping it all up with a final project that combines all the skills they’ve learned into one final project.
The first thing students must do is find a partner if they want to do it in groups or stay solo.
“I think the biggest and most important part of the project is being able to work together and learning how to create movement,” dance teacher Nicole Nothe said. “So it’s things that they maybe haven’t had experience with, but learning how to choreograph is one of the hardest things you can do as a dancer so it’s a really good learning experience for them.
This project allows for a lot of personal liberty and creativity, with students being required to find their music and pick a genre of dance. Although the students are given flexibility, they have to make sure they are staying on track and checking off all the points on the rubric.
“I’m excited for this year’s choreography project because we’re putting everything we learned all together,” freshman Nevaeh Harris said. “I like modern because, well, I’m really good at it and I’m doing a song for my brother because he’s really kind. I like putting audio messages of him saying nice things to me and I think he’s really gonna enjoy the abundance.”
