Students and staff in Frisco ISD have a four day weekend with Friday a holiday and Monday a bad weather make-up day that’s now a day off after the district received a waiver from the state meaning the day does not need to be made up.
“I find there are pros and cons of the upcoming long weekend and bad weather days. Pros, you get a nice break, teachers and students get a chance to relax before finishing the year off strong,” physics teacher Jill Bradshaw said. “Cons, as a teacher, we lose two instructional days. Instead of being able to push everything back a day onto a bad weather make-up day, we have to squeeze that content/activities into other class periods. Overall, I am looking forward to the break and hope the students come back well-rested and ready for the last stretch of school.”
With the school year moving towards its end on May 22, students are ready for a break.
“After the spring break I think it’s a good idea to have a bad weather day and the long weekend because it makes the transition after the spring break into the regular school schedule much easier,” junior Anvitha Roy said. “I think everyone deserves a break and it provides an opportunity for the students to catch up on their work as well as the staff. Personally, I am excited for the long weekend because I have some fun things planned.”
