The baseball team (6-3) walked away with a 6-0 win against Independence (0-9) on Tuesday, with the Redhawks now in 4th place in the District 11-5A standings.
“Independence has a very talented left handed pitcher,” assistant coach Ryan Houston said. “We were well aware of the challenges we faced. This win gives us confidence for the game on Friday as well as the weeks ahead.”
The Redhawks had to quickly adapt to the Knights’ plays throughout the game according to sophomore Joshua Fei.
“Some challenges we faced yesterday included doing the little things right such as doing a job when there were guys in scoring position or even simply putting a bunt down,” Fei said. “Some insight we learned from last night was that we have to put the ball in play in order to succeed because if we can force errors and put pressure on their defense we can set ourselves up for runs.”
