District 11-5A Champion, junior Gavin Liu is representing the Redhawks golf team at the Region II-5A Golf Tournament Monday and Tuesday at Tanglewood Resort.
“Gavin has experience last year in the Regional tournament, so we are letting him take control of his preparation for the tournament,” head coach Shannon Glidwell said. “He is particularly focusing on the kinds of shots that he will need for the golf course at Tanglewood. We will be there to help as he asks for it or to give occasional feedback when he might need a lift.”
Liu has been consistently practicing specific shots in preparation for the higher level of competition of the tournament.
“I have been practicing daily in order to make sure my game is in good shape,” Liu said. “Specifically, I have been focusing especially on my short game, as I believe it to be the weakest area of my game at the current moment. Some of the difficulties I expect to face are the difficult course along with the tough competition, especially as there are many great golfers playing in this tournament.”
