Over the next several weeks, seniors on campus will be provided the opportunity to attend receptions at the elementary and middle schools they used to go to, providing them an opportunity to reconnect with their former teachers, and at some schools, enjoy an early breakfast.
“The elementaries and middle schools like to see students as they’ve gotten older,” lead counselor Amanda Zambiasi said. “They like to connect with them. Our current students like to go back to their former schools, see those same teachers, and sometimes, you know, thank them for what they’ve done for them. It’s just a good time for students who are from the same elementary or middle school to see each other and their teachers, and for some schools, enjoy a breakfast together.”
Senior Aurora Spector is looking forward to seeing how her elementary school has changed over the years.
“I chose to attend [Isbell Elementary’s] reception because I kind of wanted to see what Isabel would be like after all those years that I haven’t been there,” Spector said. “It was a fun place to be in elementary school, so I wanted to come back and see if any of my teachers would be there.”
Senior Nakshatra Aripineni, who will be visiting both her old elementary school and old middle school, is excited about seeing her former teachers and remembering the good times she had at those schools.
“I’m most excited to see my old teachers again and talk to them,” Aripineni said. “I also want to see how the schools look now and remember all the moments I had at them. It just feels nice to reconnect with places that hold so many memories.”
These receptions are meaningful experiences for Aripineni because they offer a chance for students to reconnect with teachers who have had a huge impact on their lives.
“I believe these receptions give students a chance to reconnect and say thank you to the people who helped them grow,” Aripineni said. “It also reminds you how much those experiences and relationships truly meant. Now that I’m a senior, it feels really meaningful to look back and see how those schools shaped me into the person I am today. Going back reminds me how far I’ve come and how much those teachers and experiences truly mattered.”
