As STAAR testing wraps up and AP season approaches, choir students are taking the opportunity to take a mental break with a trip to Epic Waters on Friday where they will perform two pieces for a judge at The Epic Waters Music Festival.
“It’s another performance in which we can get feedback and improve, while also having fun as a choir program,” choir director Janson Guillen said. “We have worked so hard throughout the year, and this is a way for us to perform and have fun altogether.”
More than the competition, Bella Voce sophomore Shradhdha Vivek is nervous about the thrill rides at the waterpark.
“It’s been a long time since I have been to [a waterpark],” Vivek said. “I am slightly nervous about participating in all of the attractions in the waterpark, but I don’t want to miss out on anything.”
Senior Tamia Temple is apprehensive about being able to sound cohesive as a choir since all three choirs will be performing the pieces together.
“This is only our second time performing together all year,” Temple said. “I definitely will learn how to work with others of varying skill levels, as well.”
Sophomore member of Bel Canto, Almasnoor Mohammed, is excited to be able to spend time with her friends in an entertaining setting.
“I’m happy that we get to have a collective choir trip like this,” Mohammed said. “I hope to experience how a music festival works for the first time and just enjoy myself with all my choir friends.”
