After a loss against Memorial, the baseball team (7-4) looks to turn things around with the game at Memorial (9-2) on Friday at 7:30 p.m..
“This week we [were] focus[ed] on who they will throw at us on Friday, and stay[ing] within our approach,” assistant coach Ryan Houston said.
Facing the Warriors on Tuesday, the Redhawks pitching staff gave up eight runs, but senior Ishaan Krishnamurthy is confident the team will fare better Friday night.
“Tuesday we found out that their hitters are really good, so we know we have to pitch around them now,” Krishnamurthy said. “Their pitcher on Tuesday was a lot better than their pitcher today is going to be, so we’re mentally prepared to face someone that’s not as good. He’s still really good, but mentally, we’re prepared to get on him, get on him early today, and try to score some runs.”
Currently sitting in 4th place, the Redhawks can’t afford to lose many more games if they want to make the playoffs.
“As a team, we haven’t really talked about it as much,” Krishnamurthy said. “But every player individually, they all know, we got to win tonight. Tonight’s a big game for us. There’s still a way that we don’t win and we still make it, but we don’t really want to accept that. We want to win tonight and we want to win next week as well.”
