After winning State Grand Champions at their last dance competition, Red Rhythm transitions into preparing for the spring show, “Behind The Curtains”, on Friday and Saturday in the auditorium.
“[Spring Show] is a tradition that’s been going on for almost two decades, and it’s something that’s special that alumni will come back and watch,” Red Rhythm director Nicole Nothe said. “It’s a celebration and snapshot of the whole year, and most importantly, it’s a great moment for us to celebrate our seniors as their last spring show.”
Through Spring Show, senior Betty Rushing can express her passion for dance.
“Spring Show is important to me because it’s a chance to showcase my love for dance and all of our hard work from the past seasons,” Rushing said. “It’s also important to me because I get to dance with the people I cherish, my teammates.”
Rushing’s last year on Red Rhythm brings sad and happy feelings, but she is thankful and excited to see everyone transition into a new part of their lives.
“It is bittersweet as we’ve been dancing together for so long and created such a great bond as a team. However, I’m so beyond excited to see everyone move into the next phases of their lives and accomplish their goals,” Rushing said. “After my final performance onstage, I will feel sad to leave this chapter of my life behind. I will also feel grateful for the experience and the people that I was so blessed to be surrounded by.”
The thought of the season almost being over brings some sad feelings for team members, but freshman Hadley Chandler also sees the new opportunities that come with it.
“I feel so many different ways about my rookie year being almost over. First, I am kind of sad because the team won’t be the same next year with some people moving on to greater things, so I’m caught between super happy for them and disappointed that the amazing, welcoming, kind environment will shift next year,” Chandler said. “I’m also incredibly grateful for all of the friendships this year has brought me, as well as both the personal and dance related growth I have gotten to experience this year. And, I am also super excited for my sophomore year on drill, and to see the new people that next year brings.”
