Students in American Studies are making Canva posters to take a twist on their learning. Taking their knowledge and research of historical American events, students turn them into creative posters.
American Studies students divide their posters into sections such as “background,” “key players,” “impact,” and “legacy” while choosing one of the given events.
“This research project and presentation is going to help the students understand the political landscape of the new republic,” American Studies teacher Whitney Schell said. “[This will] help them remember the events of this time period better than just a lecture.”
Once they have finished their posters, they will present it to the class and explain it.
“We had to choose an event from the American studies timeline, and then we’re making a poster on Canva, and then we’re gonna present those to the class,” junior Olivia Pulley said. “Basically, we’ll share how it affected the growing American nation and the international affairs.”
