STAAR tests are a yearly endeavor towards the end of each school year in Frisco ISD starting in the third grade. But for most juniors taking Wednesday’s U.S. History STAAR test, it’s likely the last STAAR test FISD students have to take.
“I feel pretty good about the STAAR,” junior Sraddha Pedaprolu said. “I haven’t really studied, but I think I’m going to at least brush up on a little bit of the content tonight. I think I’m just gonna look over the textbook, just like skim through it, or watch like Heimler’s History for review.”
Pedaprolu feels prepared for the STAAR test because of the specificity that comes with history content.
“I feel like for this STAAR specifically, my teacher has done a good job, because it’s a very specific subject,” Pedaprolu said. “If you’re looking at like english or math, it’s a lot more general stuff that’s on there. So, I feel like for U.S. History which is very niche, my teachers have done a pretty good job.”
Most juniors will test Wednesday, but some students that are enrolled in dual credit classes already took the test back in December.
“In a way I liked taking it early because now I don’t have to worry about [it],” junior Rupal Shirpurkar said. “[While taking the test I] had a little bit of learning gaps, but I just used context from years before when I did U.S. history. But yeah, I felt generally prepared because I had a good professor for history.”
Wednesday is also the day for the Biology EOC, so both the freshmen and junior class will be testing. On the other hand, sophomores and seniors get some time off.
“Tomorrow [Wednesday], me and my friends, we’re all going to brunch,” senior Khaleb Cooper said. “We’re gonna go to ChickFIlA and then go to Walmart. We’re just gonna have a little fun before class.”
