Despite just a few days of school remaining, creativity hasn’t stopped in 3DMA class as students personalize ceiling tiles with designs of their own in order to pass the time.
“We had a lot of time and we were basically done with all our stuff,” Lamas said. “I was kinda jealous of the other teachers who had ceiling tiles and I don’t have a lot of juniors so I decided that I’d just order some paint. There’s like 300 ceiling tiles in my room so it’s gonna take a while to get them all done.”
For freshman Jayanth Pannuri, the project provides an opportunity to express his creativity and leave a lasting impact on the room which future students can admire and appreciate.
“It allows us to use all of the art skills that we’ve learnt,” Pannuri said. “And it’s also because we’ve done so many projects, it’s like we get to express our creativity instead of just turning in assignments we get to really make an impact on the actual room. And when freshmen come in or a new crop of students, they get to see what previous students were able to do.”
On the other hand, for students like freshman Rana Ghunaim, it’s a chance to paint something she likes and capture the attention of future students, just like past tiles have done for her.
“My tile is inspired by summer and then just fruits because I like fruits,” Ghunaim said. “I like the idea of future students seeing my tile just because I feel like I used to judge the other tiles and so I guess people can do that too.”
