After several scrimmages, the wrestling season officially gets underway Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. when the Redhawks host a quad meet against Rockwall Heath, Princeton, and Flower Mound at The Nest.
“I’m excited to see how the team does at our first quad meet,” senior Nolan Koons said. “We have a good amount of upperclassmen and I can’t wait to see how all the younger people do.”
Assistant wrestling coach Viviana Espinoza said that while this meet will be used as a benchmark for improvement, she is hopeful for strong results.
“We have been preparing since August for this,” Espinoza said. “We will take today’s matches and see what else we need to fine tune. We have seen great things at practice, [and I’m] excited for our seniors to get their first looks of the season in. We [also] have a big freshmen group that is picking things up quick, [and] our senior leadership is awesome. Very excited and hopeful this season.”
