Having already made school history this season by winning the UIL 5A Region Championship, the volleyball team (35-4, 13-1 District 11-5A, #6 in 5A) looks to make more by advancing to the state championship game on Nov. 22..
To do so, the Redhawks must beat the Argyle Eagles (37-3, 12-0 District 6-5A), who they defeated earlier in the year, at Rock Hill High School at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, with a trip to the state final on the line.
“We have been looking at the previous game [against Argyle] to see what we struggled with and what went well so we can set a goal for this game,” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “It’s a major accomplishment for our program to have come this far, so we want people to show up and show out to support us.”
For middle blocker, senior MacLane Mercer, the team is focusing on the big picture and its preparation.
“We have a mindset of doing our best and not letting the little mistakes affect us,” Mercer said. “So we’ll go off the game plan and try to do our best with the scouting and practice.”
