Learning went from the classroom to the hallway as AP World History students created their own version of a classic poster. The task was to create a poster that provided something like an autopsy of a given empire making it look real with a creative output of their own thoughts.

According to teacher Jeff Crowe, this perspective allows them to explore a wide range of historical elements for a better understanding of learning history through their own project.

“For each of those empires, what was it like during the hide of the empire?,” Crowe said. “What led to their decline or case of death? And so, you will see some autopsy empire posters everywhere in the hallway pretty soon, where there you know, do a little creative and historical analysis.”

Some students like sophomore Parveeni Kumaravel, showed different lenses of how empire’s beliefs work over time. This also helps her develop creative skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the project’s purpose. 

“I think the purpose of this project is to learn about how they expanded their empire,” Kumaravel said. “How they traded economical things and also their cultural behaviors and beliefs. And especially how the empire came to its fall.”
