Current 8th graders have the chance to meet school staff, counselors, coaches, and directors at Wednesday’s Rising Freshman Night from 6-7:30 p.m. in the main hall and cafeteria.
The event is designed to provide eighth graders the chance to gain insight into what high school will be like.
Teachers from various programs and organizations will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
“So for DECA for Rising Freshman it’s really cool because they can ask a lot of questions, and know how to be prepared,” teacher Demas Lamas said. “For the competitions for DECA, you could actually start in the summer so it’s really cool when they hit the ground running and get a lot of questions answer.”
Attending last year’s event, freshman Shuchi Krishnamurthy found the event helpful.
“So everyone was just welcoming I guess,” Krishnamurthy said. “There are a lot of clubs and sports, and you just walk around a bunch of tables and you just look at all the sports and clubs and there are classes too. And they tell you what you might expect and you get flyers and stuff, and it is really helpful.”
