Despite racking up a season-high 17 runs, the softball team (6-4) couldn’t get past the Centennial Titans (6-4) at The Nest Friday, losing 23-17 to split this season’s iteration of the “Rivalry on Rolater”. Over the course of seven innings, the Redhawks recorded a .515 batting average, .628 on-base percentage, and one home run.
“We could have responded better to some of their big hits,” assistant coach Gabrielle Buruato said. “Also could have tried to throw a couple more strikes. I think we had a bit of a hard time adapting our game plan to the different pitcher they were using.”
Having now lost three of their last four games, the team will look for redemption against Heritage (0-10), who they will face on the road at 6 p.m. Tuesday with the hopes of completing a series sweep.
“We’ve been working a lot on baserunning and just getting on the scoreboard in practice [in preparation for the Heritage game],” freshman utility player Braedyn Glidwell said.
