Sophomore geometry students recently spent time learning about volume and surface area, a unit that students can apply to their everyday life.
“If your like painting your bedroom and you want to know how much paint you need to buy at the store because you don’t want to overspend, that would be a surface area question,” geometry teacher Kristen Tatum said. “It’s also interesting because it’s something we looked at in middle school but we do again in high school with composite shapes and cutting multiple things together.”
One student had some troubles but was able to problem solve and find a solution
“The main issue I struggle with this is doing simple mistakes like forgetting to add or subtract but then learning from those mistakes on the next test, I would know to double check my work,” sophomore Maddie Scutari said.
