Favorite musical artists are the focus of a current art project. AP Art Drawing students are getting creative by drawing and coloring album covers from their favorite albums. Over the next few weeks, they’ll experiment with different techniques and colors, bringing their ideas to life in the art room.
The project gives students a chance to express themselves, try something new, and show off their artistic style. Students are also challenged to make their album covers as accurate as possible, paying close attention to details and colors.
“Art one students when they’re drawing and recreating their album covers what would make it successful would be so it to look as accurate as possible to the actual album cover using the correct proportions for drawing and all of the correct colors matched up to this specific album that they’re recreating,” art teacher Elise Reed said.
Students say the project isn’t just about art—it’s about personal expression. Many are using their favorite music as inspiration to create something meaningful.
“The album cover that I chose was “Octane” by Don Toliver because I like the songs in it and also I wanted to challenge myself with drawing it because I think it’s kinda hard to draw,” freshman Jahnavi Mappala said.
