Student Council president and vice president elections are underway. This year’s candidates are running in pairs, with juniors Joaquin Perez and Kathryn Murphy running against juniors Avery Peters and Ally Geradot.

The race for Student Council president and vice president has begun with the form to vote  available until April 18 with results announced April 19.

This year’s candidates are running in pairs, with juniors Joaquin Perez and Kathryn Murphy running against juniors Avery Peters and Ally Geradot.

“I’m running for student council president to just make our school a better place,” Perez said. “I think it would be amazing. We have a lot of goals that we want to accomplish next year like, having inclusion across campus and having more school spirit throughout the entire school.”

“I’m running for president because I think that I have a lot of ideas to include in the school, and I think I have a lot of new things that I want to work on,” Peters said.

Current StuCo president senior Haley Ward, encourages all students to vote.

“You should vote for the people that you think will listen to your ideas,” Ward said. “Everyone has a say and everyone’s vote really matters so it is so important to vote. During the year if you have ideas it’s important to share them with StuCo, so choose the people that you think could make these ideas happen.”

Ward hopes for the best for the candidates, and hopes that next year’s president will continue to create a good school environment.

“I hope that they just continue to bring new ideas to campus and have a fun year,” Ward said. “I think a lot of the behind the scenes is also really important, a lot of what people don’t see is leading the class and just making sure all the little things in class get done. I think both groups would do an amazing job and it will definitely be bittersweet leaving the position.”
