Softball teams across the district are competing to strike out hunger by providing donations for the Frisco Family Service food pantry with the team with the most donations throughout Frisco ISD by Friday winning a pizza party.
“It is important to donate because the food pantry is experiencing need more than ever,” head softball coach Randi Hamilton said. “The traffic for the food pantry has increased in recent years, and they have told us they need donations now more than ever.”
The softball team is organizing the drive and volunteering at the food bank on October 30, but students on campus can also pitch in by donating food which can lead to ClassDojo points being awarded for any donation.
For senior Addison Hanson, Strike Out Hunger allows students all over the district to serve the community by combating food insecurity.
“Softball contributes by donating food and then going to the food pantry and helping organize and stock the shelves,” Hanson said. “I think it is important to donate to give back to those in need and help the community around us.”
To donate, students will need to bring all donations to C145 by Friday.
