The race for state begins Thursday at 7 a.m. for cross country at the 11-5A District Championships at Myers Park, a location they’ve already competed at this season.
“Our ultimate goal is to train for championship season, and the district race on Thursday marks the beginning of that journey,” co-head coach Khera Vay said. “We’ve focused on placement and finishing position over specific times—because where you are in the race matters more than your time. Regardless of the outcome, we’re proud of them because we know they’ll give their all on the course—for themselves, their teammates, and the school.”
For junior Helen Kanatt, keeping a positive attitude matters most at this meet.
“I want to get a [personal record], I think it’s more important to be positive and keep going even when it feels like you are struggling,” Kanatt said.
