The girls basketball team (10-17, 5-5) faced Centennial (16-11, 3-7) on Thursday, securing a 35-23 and improving their winning streak to three games.
“One of the things that we did well was controlling the pace of the game [against Centennial], especially the third and going into the fourth quarter,” head coach Mykaela Alfred said. “So we were able to run offense for long periods of time.”
Hoping to continue the good vibes, the team travels to Heritage (19-13, 8-1) on Friday at 5:45 p.m..
“Some of the things to bring into [the game against Heritage] us just being able to handle their pressure because they’re going to really pressure us tonight,” Alfred said. “So when they pressure us, we need to be able to score against that pressure.”
According to sophomore Kaitlyn Jenson, the team’s strong mindset is especially important for the upcoming game against Heritage.
“Something that we had last game and need to continue going into this one is our mindset of not slowing down based on how skilled your opponents are,” Jenson said. “We need to play like there’s no tomorrow because this is our last game.”
