Editor-In-Chief Rin Ryu sits down with senior Sindhu Akula to talk about her artistic journey.

Name: Sindhu Akula

Grade: senior

Years of experience: 11 years

Wingspan: What is your favorite part about art?

Akula: “My favorite part about art is that it does not have to have meaning to be valuable. Also I like that there is no wrong or right way to do art.””

Wingspan: What is your favorite medium to use?

Akula: “I like using Prismacolors because of how smooth they are. I like using them to draw photorealistic drawings.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite thing to paint?

Akula: “My favorite thing to paint are people’s faces.”

Wingspan: Where do you get your inspiration from?

Akula: “I get my inspiration from nature. When I sit by the window and look at rain, I get a lot of ideas.”

Wingspan: What is the most challenging aspect of art?

Akula: “Contrary to common misconceptions, abstract art is the most difficult form of art to me as it requires great mastery of the skills and techniques to articulate feelings and emotions.”

Wingspan: Do you plan to continue art beyond your high school career?

Akula: “I think art will be with me every step of the way, whether it’s a simple doodle or a complicated painting.”
